The New Zealand International Convention Centre, the city rail link, the western ring road, five-star hotels and major housing projects.
They’re all transforming Auckland into an even better place to live, but to keep up, the construction industry desperately needs thousands of new workers.
The demand and skills shortage has prompted the launch of a social media campaign #BuildAKL - an initiative that aims to attract 4,000 young people into Auckland’s booming construction and infrastructure sector.
#BuildAKL has been designed by leading industry employers, in partnership with Auckland Tourism Events and Economic Development, and is deliberately targeting the under 25s.
Young jobseekers will be able to learn more about the industry via content shared on Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram and will be able to connect with entry-level jobs, education and training.
