Update on activity this year - April 2017

2017 has been a big year so far for the NZICC. Now we are in April both the teams in the office and on the construction site are being kept busier than ever.

There are now 90 piles around the perimeter of the site in place and a great start has been made on the steel framing.

The image below, taken on the 20th April shows the start of what will be level one - already down with concrete laid. Underneath this floor (on the left side of the image) there will be car parking, which will provide 1,327 car parks for the venue. To the right of the image you can see the outline of what will be a 5 star 300 room hotel, with currently the basement and core walls rising out of the ground.

Excavation is approximately 90% complete. You can see what is remaining underway by the diggers in the centre of the image above. Comparing this to the below image taken in January you can see just how much progress has been made over 3 months.

Prue Rogers is now with the team full time in the Auckland office, as the NZICC's Director of Sales. The team, alongside our key partners - Tourism New Zealand, Conference and Incentives New Zealand and Auckland Convention Bureau have been working on building a strong sales pipeline - resulting in an increase of leads both locally and internationally.

The team has been out in market representing the NZICC at tradeshows and events, such as the Asia Pacific Meetings and Incentives Expo (AIME) in Melbourne, and Convene2017 – hosted here in Auckland. Coming up the team will be at IMEX Frankfurt, Wellington Networking Lunch and MEETINGS.

The team are continually developing and trying out new technology to best answer our clients needs, most recently the development of a suite of videos allowing people to have a 360 augmented reality experience of the future level 3 halls. These videos allowing our clients to get a sense of the size and scale of the building, and really get a sense of what the NZICC will be like when open.

If you would like further information or to stay updated follow the NZICC on LinkedIN here. Any of the teams at Tourism New Zealand Business Events or Auckland Convention Bureau would be thrilled to talk to you about how we can support your event.
