Overload is an annual 2-day festival celebrating New Zealand’s continually growing anime and manga culture. With a primary focus on artists, this lively non-profit event brings together local fans and creative enthusiasts to exhibit and sell their work. The convention features international guests, cosplay, competitions, performances, and unique collectible anime and manga merchandise, making it a fun and vibrant celebration for the community.
By fans, for the fans: Overload is organised entirely by a passionate volunteer team: the Overload Committee, operating under Anime NZ Ltd. The committee works year-round to bring the festival to life, supported by more than 70 volunteers who help make the event possible.
From 2026, Overload will move to its new home at the New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC), marking an exciting new chapter for the event. The 2026 edition will also celebrate Overload’s 20th anniversary, a major milestone for the community and for everyone who has contributed to its growth.
