Auckland, New Zealand: The New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC) has been confirmed as the venue for the inaugural MICHELIN Guide New Zealand restaurant selection ceremony, marking a defining moment for Aotearoa’s hospitality, tourism and events industries.
Set for the 30th of June, taking place in the heart of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, the ceremony will bring together leading chefs, restaurateurs, hospitality figures and industry partners to celebrate the arrival of one of the world’s most recognised culinary institutions to New Zealand.
More than a ceremony, the occasion places an international spotlight on Aotearoa’s evolving food story and the people, places and experiences shaping its culinary identity.
Prue Daly, General Manager at NZICC, says hosting the MICHELIN Guide ceremony reflects the role NZICC was created to play in Auckland and Aotearoa’s events landscape.
“It is a privilege for NZICC to host the MICHELIN Guide for this New Zealand first. NZICC is more than an event venue. It is a place designed to reflect the energy of Tāmaki Makaurau, the manaakitanga of Aotearoa and the ambition of a country ready to host the world. To welcome an event of this significance so early in our journey is a powerful endorsement of the role NZICC can play in shaping New Zealand’s next chapter as a global destination for culture, business, hospitality and major events.”
Ian Love, Director of Operations at NZICC, says the team is focused on delivering an experience that matches the occasion. “When you host an event of this profile, every detail matters. From the arrival experience through to the spaces, service and flow of the evening, our role is to make sure guests feel the care, precision and warmth that define great New Zealand hospitality. It is a significant moment for the industry, and we’re proud to play our part in making it feel special.”
The ceremony further reinforces NZICC’s role as a major destination for international events in New Zealand, supporting Auckland’s visitor economy and showcasing local talent, ideas and experiences on the world stage.
